Aboriginal Taiwanese boar sausage. The Taiwanese identity is very interesting in many ways; it includes the Austronesian people’s that have lived here for as long as humanity has, the old Chinese migrants from the Ming and Qing dynasties, those from the Japanese colonial period (although they are very few) and of course those that came with the Kuomintang. All these parts synthesise into one identity, or part of one. That is most obvious in the cuisine.
